Special Administrators

Under limited circumstances, when the court deems it necessary to protect assets of the estate before a Personal Representative is appointed or after the death or other termination of the Personal Representative, the court may appoint a special administrator to preserve the assets of the estate prior to delivering them to a general Personal Representative. In formal proceedings, the special administrator may be required to handle estate administration until such time as testacy has been determined. See A.S. 13.16.310-330.
